Marilyn R. Wetherholt, 84, Effingham, died at 7:37 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2020 at Lutheran Care Center in Altamont, Ill. Private service will be held with burial in the Trexler Cemetery in rural Newton, next to her Maternal grandparents, Bert and Pearl (Slaight) Webster. In loving memory of Marilyn memorials may be made to the Effingham Church of Christ, 1311 South Fourth Street, Effingham, Illinois 62401. Marilyn was born July 23, 1936, in Robinson, daughter of Samuel C. and Iris V. (Webster) Ragsdale of Wheeler, Ill. She married Medford Russell Wetherholt at Latona, Ill., on June 24, 1956, and he preceded her in death in 1980. Marilyn was a secretary and buyer at W. G. Best Homes, Effingham, for 24 years, and an administrative assistant at World Color Press, Effingham, for 15 years. Other affiliations included Board Member, Effingham Child Development Center, Secretary of the Effingham County Chapter, American Cancer Society, and member of the FISH Human Services Organization in Effingham. Marilyn is survived by: nieces, Kim (James) Parker of Effingham and Heather Hoffman of Quincy, Ill.; nephews, Russell (Tracy) Willenborg of Effingham and Travis Hoffman of Quincy, Ill.; and several great nieces and nephews. Half sisters, Kathy Ragsdale of Loves Park, Ill. and Karen Hoffman of Quincy, Ill. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Evelyn Elaine Sowers and great nephew Evan Michael Willenborg.
