Helen Louise Blanton, 95, Robinson, entered into eternal rest on Friday Nov. 20, 2020 at Ridgeview Care Center, Oblong. She was born on Oct. 18, 1925 in Clinton, Ind. to Byron and Violette (Swafford) Buntain. On Oct. 4, 1947 Helen married Carl Blanton and they shared many happy years together. Helen was the owner and operator of her own beauty shop which she called Helen’s Beauty Salon for 20 plus years. During WWII, Helen worked in the Defense Plant in Terre Haute. A country girl at heart, she was always laughing and full of fun. She loved cooking wonderful meals on her old-fashioned wood burning stove and feeding her family and friends. Her favorite hobbies were sewing and taking care of her flowers. She loved to go square dancing and traveling out west with her husband, Carl, and above all she loved the Lord and her precious family. Survivors include her husband, Carl Blanton, Robinson; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Kenneth Mattsey, Robinson; her grandchildren, Michael and Maia Mattsey of Sacramento, Calif., Mark and Carrie Mattsey, St. Joseph, Ill. and Karin and Pete Stubbs, Westfield, Ind.; great grandchildren, Ben Mattsey, Brandon Mattsey, Brylee Stubbs, Brynn Stubbs and Otis Mattsey. Also surviving is her brother and sister-in-law, Duane and Helen Buntain, Bardstown, Ky. along with several nieces and nephews all of whom she dearly loved. Preceding her in death were her parents and her brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Virginia Buntain. Funeral services will be held on Friday Nov. 27, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, with Pastor Jay Regennitter officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow funeral services in Roselawn Memorial Park, Terre Haute. Memorial donations may be made to the Shepard’s Chapel, the Oblong Christian Children’s home or to the NOW Program c/o 1st United Methodist Church, Robinson, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
