Carolyn Purcell, 74, Marshall, formerly of Robinson, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2020, at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute. She was born March 9, 1946, in Robinson, the daughter of Allen and Delila Ruth (Finch) White, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her infant son, Stephen Purcell; by her daughter, Sheryl McLaughlin; by her sister, Thelma Farlow; and by her brothers, Howard White and Leonard White.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Shannon and David Burkybile, Marshall and Sharon and Danny Horton, Zephyrhill, Fla.; by her 11 grandchildren; by several great-grandchildren; by her brothers, John and Barb White, Robinson; Terry and Donna White, Robinson and Gary White, Robinson; by her sister, Mary Ann White, Robinson; by her son-in-law, Jim McLaughlin, New Port Richey, Fla.; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Though Carolyn grew up in Robinson and was a 1964 graduate of RHS, she made the move to Dade City, Fla., where she lived for 15 years. Upon moving back home, she found work with the post office, and was the postmaster in Sumner, Sainte Marie, and finally in Oblong, before retiring after 28 years of faithful service.
A time of visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17 at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Pease note that due to COVID-19 mandates passed by the State of Illinois, social distancing measures will be in force, and it will be required that all attendees wear face coverings. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to “St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital,” with envelopes available at the funeral home.
