Lady Maroons fall to Mt. Carmel in two
Inconsistent play proved costly for Robinson High School's volleyball team Tuesday night (Sept. 3), as the Lady Maroons dropped their home opener to Mt. Carmel in two sets, 21-25, 16-25.

"We played well in spurts tonight," RHS head coach Eric Dean said. "We'd look real good for four or five points, but then struggle for the next seven or eight points. Our serve receive was off and our hitting really struggled down the stretch. We will work on fixing our mistakes and be ready to go on Thursday."

Maroons fall short in overtime, 21-20
The old adage of "go for the win on the road" ended in heartbreak for Robinson High School's football team Friday night (Aug. 30).

The Maroons fought all the way down to the final play, but came out on the short end of a 21-20 decision in overtime at Warrensburg-Latham in the season opener for both teams.

"I'm proud of our effort and how hard we played," RHS head coach Casey Pinnell said. "Warrensburg-Latham is a good team that is disciplined and well-coached and outside of the first quarter, we did everything better than they did."

OPH overwhelmed by Meridian, 60-8
Momentum can be a huge factor in sports and that was the case in Friday night (Aug. 30)'s season opener for the Oblong-Palestine-Hutsonville football team.

OPH could never get any momentum on either side of the ball, while the mistakes piled up as the game went on and the end result was a 60-8 loss to Macon Meridian.

"I am not happy at all with how we played," OPH head coach Chad Pusey said. "That was bad football all the way around."

Short-handed Lady Statesmen finish with 1-1 tie at Eureka
Short-handed does not necessarily mean out-manned and Lincoln Trail College's women's soccer team can attest to that.

In just the second match in program history, the Lady Statesmen were able to forge a tie at Eureka College despite being short-handed through the entirety of the match (Aug. 31).

Due to a rash of injuries that have hit the team already this season, Lincoln Trail played the whole match with just nine players, but still were able to manage a 1-1 tie.

"The girls fought hard," LTC head coach Shawn Hall said. "They all played the whole time and had a great effort."
