Stepping up in the absence of their leading scorer and rebounder was what was needed of Robinson High School's boys' basketball team and that is exactly what the Maroons did.

Playing without senior Brayden Childress due to a concussion suffered in Tuesday's game, the Maroons knew they needed to step their game up in a tough matchup against rival Newton in the quarterfinals of the Little Illini Conference Tournament at Paris.

Statesmen snap skid, beat Olney Central, 83-74, in GRAC play
Getting back home was apparently the key to curing what had been ailing Lincoln Trail College's men's basketball team recently.

Following a pair of losses on the road against tough competition to open up the 2020 portion of their schedule, the Statesmen returned home Wednesday (Jan. 15) for another stiff test against rival Olney Central College - who had just recently upset then No. 1-ranked Vincennes University.

The Statesmen were up to the challenge this time, as they held off a late charge and picked up an 83-74 win in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference contest.
