LTC women's soccer signs half-dozen players
Following an inaugural season that saw them grasping for anyone and everyone they could to fill spots on the field and still coming up short, Lincoln Trail College's women's soccer team is hoping year two will be the first of many steps forward.

After their first season this past fall was cut short due to a lack of players, head coach Shawn Hall has already been able to secure a deeper roster heading into his second season at the helm and he continues to look to supplement it.

"We have six new girls coming in and all of them are better than the back end of what we had last year," Hall said. "My goal was to bring more solid, all-around players in that can help the program and I believe we are doing that."

Progress continues on Statesmen Park project
Even though sports are done for the school year thanks to the coronavirus outbreak, improvements to the athletic facilities at Lincoln Trail College continue to progress.

A little more than a year ago, the LTC Foundation donated 11 acres of land west of the baseball diamond to allow for the addition of two soccer fields to house the LTC women's team and the soon-to-debut men's team, as well as a softball diamond to bring the LTC softball team back to campus after utilizing the Robinson City Park as home for many years.

Statesmen Park - which is the name for the entire complex - broke ground last May and hit some snags along the way, which prevented soccer fields from being completed in time to play on during the fall season.
