Red Hill Invite Champs
Palestine-Hutsonville's boys' track team earned a share of the Red Hill Invitational championship Wednesday, as they won eight events and scored 135 points to tie with Red Hill for first place in the six-team event.


Lady Maroons win Little Illini track meet
Hardware continues to pile up for Robinson High School's girls' track team.

The Lady Maroons followed up their Cumberland Invitational championship Friday by claiming another one Wednesday (May 1), as they took first in the Little Illini Conference Meet at Newton.

Statesmen sweep Southeastern Illinois
Two low-scoring, one-run games went the way of Lincoln Trail College's baseball team Sunday (May 4).

The Statesmen celebrated the 50th anniversary of LTC and the groundbreaking of Statesmen Park by scoring a pair of walk-off wins over Southeastern Illinois College, 1-0 and 3-2.

Maroons fall to West Vigo, Ind., 4-1
Two of the top teams in the Wabash Valley locked up Friday night (May 3) and the home team came out on top.

That was not good news for Robinson High School's baseball team, as they dropped a 4-1 decision at West Vigo, Ind.

Lady Tigers drop Little Okaw Valley Southeast game to Martinsville, 16-2
Back-to-back bad innings put Hutsonville-Palestine's softball team in a hole they could not recover from and the end result was a lopsided loss in conference play.

The Lady Tigers gave up a combined 14 runs between the second and third innings en route to a 16-2 loss to Martinsville Friday (May 3) in a Little Okaw Valley Conference Southeast Division make-up game that was played in Palestine due to wet field conditions in Hutsonville.

Pal-Hut 6th, OHS 13th at LOVC boys' meet
One local team finished in the middle of the pack, while another finished at the end at the final Little Okaw Valley Conference Track Meet Friday (May 3) in Arcola.

Palestine-Hutsonville finished tied for sixth in the boys' meet, while Oblong came in 13th.

Palestine-Hutsonville won three events and finished with 51 points to tie with Cerro Gordo-Bement and Argenta-Oreana, while Oblong finished last among teams scoring with .5 points.

Lady Maroons thumped by Newton, 16-1
A bad start and an even worse finish led Robinson High School's softball team to a lopsided loss Friday (May 3).

The Lady Maroons fell behind early and never recovered in a 16-1 loss at Newton in a make-up Little Illini Conference contest that was moved to Newton from Robinson due to wet field conditions at Robinson City Park.

Tigers rally past Panthers for 11-9 win in LOVC Southeast slugfest
Unlike the first meeting, Wednesday's county clash between Hutsonville-Palestine and Oblong's baseball team was a slugfest, but the outcome was ultimately the same as the first meeting.

Following a 10-0, no-hit win in the first meeting, the Tigers had to withstand an early onslaught from the Panthers and battle back, then eventually score late to pick up an 11-9 win in the Little Okaw Valley Conference Southeast Division contest (May 1).

Lady Panthers beat Lady Tigers, 12-2
County rivals squared off once again on the softball diamond and the results were similar to the first meeting.

Host Oblong scored in every inning and pulled away for a 12-2 win over Hutsonville-Palestine in a Little Okaw Valley Conference Southeast Division contest (May 1).

Short-handed Maroons down Olney, 5-1
Conditions weren't ideal and Robinson High School's baseball team wasn't at full strength, but the Maroons were still able to pick up another win Wednesday (May 1).

Playing through rain off and on throughout the game and being down a couple of starters didn't deter Robinson, as they scored a 5-1 victory over Olney in a non-conference contest at Robinson City Park.
