Lady Statesmen drop two Friday

The regular season did not end the way Lincoln Trail College's volleyball team had hoped.
The Lady Statesmen hosted a triangular match Friday (Oct. 25) and lost both contests, falling to Spoon River in three sets, 19-25, 15-25, 21-25 and to Frontier in five sets, 25-19, 22-25, 21-25, 25-18, 12-15.
Against Spoon River, Mackenzie Rinehart led LTC with 16 assists and one ace, while J'Amy Jackson posted nine kills and two blocks. Tori Combs contributed six blocks and five kills, Leyah Logan recorded nine assists and two digs, Myriah Warner netted seven digs and one ace and Jordan Christy collected five kills.
"We definitely underestimated (Spoon River)," LTC head coach Dana Goodwin said. "Nothing seemed to work in our favor. We started pushing when it was too late in the game."
Against Frontier, Rinehart again led LTC with 23 assists, six digs, three aces and one kill, while Jazmyn Rodriguez netted 12 kills, five digs and two aces. Combs posted eight blocks, seven digs, six kills and one assist, Logan contributed 11 assists, nine digs and two kills, Warner collected 13 digs and Samantha Johnson recorded seven kills and three blocks.
"Unnecessary errors led the game for us," Goodwin said. "Frontier is usually a back-and-forth battle, but we didn't have it to take a W."
