RHS girls' tennis edges Olney, 5-4
Sports Editor

Depth helped Robinson High School's girls' tennis team get back on the winning track.

After seeing their seven-match winning streak come to an end Tuesday, the Lady Maroons righted the ship Wednesday (Oct. 2) by edging visiting Olney in a dual match, 5-4.

"The quality of our depth in our line-up has been a key for many of our wins this season and tonight was no exception with our team winning in singles at Nos. 3,4,5 and 6," RHS head coach Steve Jenkins said.

Robinson tallied four wins in singles, as Lucy List, Ella Dorfmueller, Alysha Clements and Stevee Walker were all able to pick up wins.

With a 4-2 lead after singles play, Robinson needed just one win in doubles to clinch the match and they got it at No. 2 from the team of Walker and Mia Hargis.

Jenkins noted Walker's strong play was the key to the victory.

"Stevee ran her singles record to 11-1 after winning tonight in straight sets," Jenkins said. "She continues to learn how to make in game adjustments depending on her opponents strengths and weakness. She also paired up with Mia at No. 2 doubles to pull out the winning match."

The two teams also played a junior varsity match, with Robinson picking up just two wins out of 11 matches played.

Latesha Aldrich netted a victory in singles, while the team of Aldrich and Alexis Weger won in doubles.
