A late rally helped Robinson High School's softball team overcome an early deficit and send the Lady Maroons to their second straight last at-bat victory Monday (April 1).
Robinson was able to climb out of an early 6-0 hole and rally for a 7-6 win over Altamont in a non-conference contest.
Altamont plated two runs in the second and tacked on four more in the third for a 6-0 lead, while Robinson countered with six runs in the bottom of the third to stay within striking distance. The Lady Maroons then scored twice in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game, then scored the eventual winning run on a two-out RBI single by Maddie Morris in the bottom of the sixth.
Morris led RHS at the plate with a double, two singles, two runs batted in and two runs scored, while Katy Powell doubled and drove in a run. Hailey Dean singled and knocked in a pair of runs, Willow Hoke posted a base hit, a run batted in and a run scored, Madi Staley, Marley McKee and Livia Smith added a base hit and a run scored apiece, Latesha Aldrich and Addy Paddock each singled and Lucy List drove in a run and scored a run.
Makenzee Legg picked up the win in relief, allowing an unearned run on three hits and striking out three in four and two-thirds innings of work. Starter Kyrsten White went two and one-third innings, giving up five runs (three earned) on five hits with one walk and three strikeouts.
