Another slow start prevented Robinson High School's girls' basketball team from getting back in the win column Monday night (Jan. 7).
The Lady Maroons were unable to build on the win they recorded in their last outing, as they dropped a 55-36 decision to Lawrenceville in Little Illini Conference play.
Robinson fell behind 14-4 after one quarter, then outscored Lawrenceville 13-11 in the second quarter to pull within 25-17 at halftime, only to get doubled up 22-11 in the third quarter for a 47-28 deficit. Each team then scored eight points in the fourth quarter to reach the final totals.
The Lady Maroons made just more than half as many field goal attempts (12) as Lawrenceville (23) and were doubled up from the three-point line. Lawrenceville knocked down eight long-range shots, compared to just four for the Lady Maroons. Robinson did hold an advantage at the free throw line, although they made just 8-18 attempts (44 percent), as Lawrenceville made 1-3 free throws (33 percent).
Lauren Weber led RHS with 13 points, while Bailey Strauch tossed in nine, Andrea Schalburg netted eight, Jaedyn Johnson scored five and Ella Florkowski added one.
