For the second time this season, Robinson High School's girls' basketball team has stopped a losing streak at six games.
The Lady Maroons snapped their latest six-game skid Thursday (Jan. 3) with a 43-35 win at Cumberland in a non-conference contest.
Robinson jumped out to a 12-7 lead after one quarter, then outscored Cumberland 13-6 in the second quarter to build a 25-13 advantage at halftime. Cumberland closed the gap to 34-25 after three quarters and outscored RHS 10-9 in the fourth quarter, but the Lady Maroons were able to hold on for the win.
Ella Florkowski led RHS with 16 points, while Lauren Weber and Jaedyn Johnson also reached double figures with 12 points apiece. Andrea Schalburg tossed in two points and Katie Hartke added one to round out the scoring for the Lady Maroons.
Sage Carr led Cumberland with 12 points, while Josie Brown tossed in eight and Zoe Mitchell scored seven.
Robinson also won the junior varsity game, 20-15. The game consisted of two 10-minute halves with a running clock due to low numbers for Cumberland.
Lucy List led RHS with eight points, while Catie Newlin scored four.
