Two close games resulted in a pair of tough losses for Lincoln Trail College's basketball teams on the road in Great Rivers Athletic Conference play Saturday (Dec. 1) at Southwestern Illinois College.

In the women's game, Lincoln Trail could not hold on to an 11-point halftime lead and dropped a 56-55 decision.

The Lady Statesmen jumped out to a 20-8 lead after one quarter and still held a 35-24 advantage at halftime, but SWIC closed the gap to 43-38 after three quarters. SWIC then outscored LTC 18-12 in the fourth quarter to pull out the victory.

The three-point line proved huge for SWIC, as they knocked down 11 long-range shots, while LTC hit seven. Three of SWIC's threes in the second half banked in as the shot clock was winding down, while another one came after a loose ball that put them up one late in the game.

Kaitlin Adams led LTC with 14 points, while Jaylynn Brown also reached double figures with 13. Andrea Adams tossed in seven points, Emelia Bryant and Britney Epperson each scored six, Olivia Bryant and Taylor Bradley netted four points apiece and Shamarrhea Young added one.

Precious McGlown led SWIC with 17 points, while Milen Hagos scored 12.

In the men's game, Lincoln Trail could not overcome an 11-point halftime deficit and suffered their first loss of the season, 88-84.

The Statesmen took a 54-43 deficit into the locker room at halftime, but came out and outscored SWIC 41-34 in the second half, only to fall a few points short.

Dante Combs led LTC with 25 points, while Justin Williams tossed in 14. Jaylon Holmes netted 13 points, Lawrence Williams and Lamar Lillard each scored nine, Daniel Hurst contributed seven, Meeko Bond chipped in three and Casius Bell Jr. and Sandro Noel added two points apiece.

Four players reached double figures for SWIC, led by Jordan Notch with 17 points. Spencer Washington tossed in 13, Javonte Perkins netted 11 and Destan Williams added 10.
