It was a clean sweep for Lincoln Trail College's basketball teams in their first conference road games of the season Tuesday (Nov. 20).

The Statesmen and Lady Statesmen both picked up league wins at Rend Lake, with the men's team picking up a 74-62 victory and the women scoring a 73-65 win.

In the men's game, LTC jumped built a 32-25 lead at halftime, then outscored Rend Lake 42-37 in the second half to seal the win.

Alex Heath and Daniel Hurst shared scoring honors for LTC with 16 points apiece, with both of them doing significant damage in the second half. Heath scored 14 points after halftime, including four three-pointers, while Hurst scored 10 points in the second half. Jaylon Holmes and Lamar Lillard tossed in nine points apiece, Justin Williams and Dante Combs each netted eight, Lawrence Williams scored five and J.T. Counts added three.

Jevon Burton led Rend Lake with 21 points, while Donovan Deal was also in double figures with 10.

Lincoln Trail (6-0, 2-0 GRAC) will play host to Lewis & Clark Community College Wednesday, Nov. 28, at 7:30 p.m.

In the women's game, a big second quarter gave the Lady Statesmen a big cushion and they cruised to their fifth straight win. Lincoln Trail held a 16-12 lead after one quarter, but outscored Rend Lake 25-8 in the second quarter to take a 41-20 lead at halftime. However, the Lady Statesmen had to stave off a second half rally, as Rend Lake outscored LTC 21-17 in the third quarter to close the gap to 58-41, then outscored LTC 24-15 in the fourth quarter, only to still fall short.

Balanced scoring again led the Lady Statesmen, as they placed five players in double figures. Olivia Bryant led LTC with 15 points, while twin sister Emelia tossed in 13, Andrea Adams netted 12 and Jaylynn Brown and Britney Epperson each scored 11. Shamarrhea Young and Taylor Bradley netted four points apiece, Nieisha Petit-Frere added two and Callie Clay had one.

Jaylin Haley led Rend Lake with 22 points, while Kelsey Krutsinger scored 17.
