RHS wins, OHS, Hut-Pal both lose

One county team picked up another win in conference play, while two others dropped conference matches in volleyball action Thursday (Sept. 20).

Robinson rolled to another Little Illini Conference win, downing Marshall in two sets, 25-20, 25-23.

"I'm proud of the team for picking up another win tonight," RHS head coach Eric Dean said. "Marshall is a tough place to play and it was very hot in that gym. We made big plays at big times and were able to get the win."

Sydni Bailey led RHS with eight points, including four aces, 11 digs, three kills and two assists, while Gracie Shidler totaled six points, 15 assists, three digs and two kills and Kenzie Wisdom netted six points with three aces, one block and one dig.

"Our middles hit well tonight," Dean said. "Maddison Fisher had her best hitting game of the season, and our setter, Gracie Shidler, had a nice night setting the ball."

Robinson also won the junior varsity match in two sets, 25-22, 25-9.

Livia Smith led RHS with eight points, including three aces, five kills and five digs, while Katie Hartke posted five points, seven kills, four digs and one assist.

In the freshman match, Robinson lost in two sets, 19-25, 13-25.

Katrina Hinman led RHS with four points, including three aces, five assists, three digs and one kill, while Katie Elder posted three points with one ace, six assists and four digs.

At Villa Grove, Oblong fell in three sets, 11-25, 25-18, 13-25.

Alyssa Potts led OHS with six points, including four aces, four digs, three kills and one block, while Hannah Meese posted five points, 11 digs and two kills and Kenzi McIntosh contributed five points with one ace, five assists, three digs and two kills.

Oblong did win the junior varsity match, 25-23, 25-20.

Jalyn Collier led OHS with 13 points, including six aces, seven kills and one block, while Meese totaled 10 points with two aces, seven assists, two kills, one block and one dig.

At Kansas, Hutsonville-Palestine lost to Tri-County in two sets, 12-25, 13-25.

Paige Matthews topped Hutsonville-Palestine with two points, four good serves and four good sets, while Marah Matthews contributed one point with one ace, eight good serves and 16 good sets and Ashlyn Matthews recorded one point with one ace, three good serves, eight digs and seven spikes with two kills.

In the junior varsity match, Hutsonville-Palestine won in three sets, 29-27, 14-25, 15-9.

McKenna Love led Hutsonville-Palestine with 12 points on 19-19 serves along with 38 good sets, while Isabel Sheets posted 10 points on 13-13 serves, 14 spikes with seven kills and eight digs and Kelsey Hites netted eight points on 11-11 serves.
