Maroons fall short to TH South, 6-4
JOSH BROWN
Sports Editor

A late rally fell just short for Robinson High School's baseball team Wednesday (May 9), which resulted in another non-conference loss.

The Maroons fell behind early and could not catch all the way back up in a 6-4 loss at Terre Haute South.

The game was scoreless until the bottom of the third, when Terre Haute South struck for three runs to take a lead they would not relinquish. The margin grew to 4-0 after South plated another run in the fourth, but Robinson rallied for three runs in the fifth to pull within one. However, South countered with two runs of their own in the bottom of the fifth to push their lead back to 6-3. Robinson plated a run in the sixth get within two, but they could not get any closer.

Cole Waggoner led RHS at the plate with a double, two singles and a run batted in, while Kade Lassen singled, knocked in a pair of runs and scored a run. Evan Hale added a double, Lance Wesner singled and Brayden Childress, Tyler Weber and Logan Sexton each scored a run.

Cade Slaughter was tagged with the loss on the mound, allowing four runs, two earned, on six hits, while walking three and striking out three in four innings. Parker Johnson worked the final two frames, giving up two runs on four hits while striking out two.
