Lady Tigers swept by Tri-County

Wins continue to elude Hutsonville-Palestine's softball team.

The Lady Tigers were swept in a Little Okaw Valley Conference Southeast Division doubleheader Friday (May 4) by Tri-County, losing 17-9 and 5-1.

In game one, each team scored four runs in the first inning, while Tri-County plated three more in the top of the second, only for Hutsonville-Palestine to score five times in the bottom of the inning to take a 9-7 lead. However, Tri-County answered with one in the third, then took the lead for good with six in the fourth and added three more in the fifth to pull away for the win.

Halle Jackson led the Lady Tigers at the plate with a double, two runs batted in and two runs scored, while Katelyn Wilber singled twice and scored two runs. Summer Crowe added a base hit and two runs batted in, Abby Bezy singled, knocked in a run and scored a run, Jerika Coffman and Lindsay Ryan each singled and drove in a run, Reese Williamson scored two runs and Katie Littlejohn and Addison Pinkston each scored a run.

Wilber suffered the loss on the mound, allowing 17 runs, 16 earned, on 18 hits, while walking four and striking out five in five innings.

In game two, Tri-County took control with a four-run first inning, then added another run in the second for a 5-0 advantage. Hutsonville-Palestine plated a run in the fifth, but could not get any closer.

Jerra Patterson led the offense for Hutsonville-Palestine with a single and a run batted in, while Coffman singled and scored a run and Wilber, Ryan and Crowe each had a base hit.

Ryan took the loss on the mound, allowing five runs, three earned, on eight hits and a walk in two innings. Wilber tossed the final two frames, giving up a hit, walking one and striking out one.
