Statesmen can't keep pace with OCC in 101-76 loss in GRAC play
JOSH BROWN
Sports Editor

Struggles on the defensive end continued for Lincoln Trail College's men's basketball team Saturday (Dec. 2).

The Statesmen gave up triple figures for the second time in less than a week and the end result was a 101-76 loss at Olney Central College in Great Rivers Athletic Conference play.

Lincoln Trail dug themselves a 58-38 hole at halftime, then matched that total in the second half while giving up 43 more to reach the final margin.

The Statesmen held advantages from two-point range and the free throw line, but the three-point line did them in. Lincoln Trail outscored OCC 54-36 from inside the arc and made 16-24 free throws (67 percent) to 14-18 for OCC (78 percent). However, OCC made 17 three-pointers to just two for LTC, outscoring the Statesmen 51-6 from beyond the arc.

Kendall Jones led LTC with 20 points, while LeAaron Cain tossed in 17. Lawrence Williams also reached double figures with 15 points, Justin Williams scored nine, Todd Smith and Hector Walker netted six points apiece, Chuchu Enechionyia added two and J.T. Counts added one.

Erikas Jakstys led OCC with 34 points, including seven three-pointers, while former Marshall High School standout Josiah Wallace tossed in 27.
