Statesmen beat Rose-Hulman JV, 93-72
Sports Editor

A balanced offensive attack helped Lincoln Trail College's men's basketball team get back on the winning track.

The Statesmen rebounded from a lopsided loss at Vincennes Wednesday, cruising past Rose-Hulman JV for a 93-72 win Thursday night (Nov. 30).

In a tightly-contested first half, Lincoln Trail managed to hold a 36-31 lead at halftime, but then took control in the second half. The Statesmen outscored Rose-Hulman JV 57-41 over the final 20 minutes to pull away for the win.

The game was anything but clean, as the teams combined for 51 fouls, which led to 59 total free throws being shot. Lincoln Trail made 17-23 foul shots (74 percent), while Rose-Hulman JV went 29-36 at the charity stripe (81 percent). The Statesmen were able to offset that disparity with their three-point marksmanship, as LTC made 10 three-pointers to just five for Rose-Hulman JV. Lincoln Trail also outscored Rose-Hulman JV 46-28 from inside the arc.

All 11 players who saw action for LTC in the game scored, including six in double figures. Kendall Jones led the Statesmen with 18 points, while LeAaron Cain tossed in 13. Todd Smith netted 12 points, J.T. Counts scored 11, Justin Williams and Lawrence Williams posted 10 points apiece, Kyle Finch contributed eight, Deante Booker chipped in with five, Kendall Williams recorded three points, Chuchu Enechionyia added two and Hector Walker had one.

Rose-Hulman JV had four players reach double digits, led by Trey Sykes with 26 points, while Aaron Eldridge, Taylor Heil and Tim Harris netted 10 points apiece.
