Scores have been close pretty much every time Robinson High School's boys' cross country team is in a meet with Olney and Lawrenceville-Red Hill.
That was the case again Tuesday (Oct. 10) in the Little Illini Conference Meet and this time the Maroons were able to come out on top, edging past Olney to win the LIC title, while Lawrenceville-Red Hill was a distant third.
Robinson scored 39 points to win the meet, while Olney was right behind with 41. Lawrenceville-Red Hill came in third with 78 points, followed by Marshall (82), Casey-Westfield (136), Newton (173) and Paris (177).
The Maroons had four runners earn All-Conference honors by finishing among the top-10 runners in a field of 80. Leading the way for RHS was Kobe Lorance in fourth with a time of 16:36, while Lukas Baird was right behind in fifth with a time of 16:42.
Also scoring for Robinson were Wyatt Bonnell in seventh with a time of 16:45, Maverick Wright in eighth in 16:46 and Koty Amdahl in 15th in 17:44.
Individual champion was Lawrenceville-Red Hill's Max Smigiel - a former RHS runner - with a time of 16:23.
In the girls' meet, Robinson finished fifth out of five complete teams with a total of 116. Lawrenceville-Red Hill won with a score of 45, followed by Paris (49), Olney (60) and Newton (100).
Sami Johnson led RHS with a seventh-place finish in 21:15 to earn All-Conference honors. Andrea Schalburg was next in 25th in the 43-runner field with a time of 23:54, followed by Madysen Clark in 38th (27:19), Kayla Guyer in 41st (29:50) and Mallory Sutfin in 42nd (30:03).
Individual champion was Lawrenceville-Red Hill's Katie Moore with a time of 19:31.
