Strong play continued for Robinson High School's girls' tennis team Thursday (Sept. 7) and the end result was another win.
The Lady Maroons rolled past Mt. Carmel for an 8-1 victory in their non-conference match.
Robinson clinched the match with five wins in singles, as Andrea Schalburg, Emma Goodman, Mia Hargis, Meredith Berty and Sarah Staller each picked up straight-set victories.
With the win already secured, the Lady Maroons went ahead and swept doubles play just for good measure. Goodman and Hargis teamed up for the win at No. 1, Berty and Alysha Clements won at No. 2 and Morgan Graupmann and Schalburg won at No. 3.
"All three of our doubles teams came away with wins and I was really pleased with their play," RHS head coach Steve Jenkins said. "The Casey Doubles Tournament is next Saturday (Sept. 16) and has seven other really talented schools, so in practice we have been stressing improving our doubles play. The girls' aggressiveness at the net and volley location continues to improve with each match."
In junior varsity action, Robinson came out on the short end of a 3-2 decision.
Staller and Megan Gallagher each picked up singles victories to account for the RHS wins.
