15 from county make All-LOVC SE teams

More than a dozen baseball and softball players from Crawford County were recognized for their achievements on the field this past season by receiving All-Little Okaw Valley Conference Southeast Division honors recently.

A total of 15 players received accolades, with Oblong leading the way with 11 selections (six softball, five baseball), while Hutsonville-Palestine had four players chosen (three softball, one baseball).

For baseball, Oblong had four players selected to the First Team. Dawson Maus was selected as a pitcher, while also on the First Team were Ryan Gill, Hunter Goodwin and Kacey Cheek.

Maus posted a 7-1 record with a 1.44 ERA on the mound for the Panthers this season, including 84 strikeouts and just 20 walks in 53.1 innings. He also hit .519 at the plate (40-77), including seven doubles, three home runs, a triple, 40 runs scored and 25 runs batted in.

Gill batted .457 (32-70) for OHS this season, including five doubles, two triples, one home run, 29 runs batted in and 29 runs scored. On the mound, Gill was 3-1 with a 3.74 ERA, while striking out 40 and walking 18 in 24.1 innings.

Goodwin posted a .456 average (31-68), including seven doubles, five home runs, 42 runs batted in and 27 runs scored. On the mound, Goodwin went 1-1 with a 1.59 ERA, including 30 strikeouts and five walks in 17.2 innings.

Cheek hit .313 (25-80) this season, which included six doubles, two home runs, one triple, 37 runs scored and nine runs batted in. On the mound, Cheek was 7-1 with a 0.39 ERA. He allowed just two earned runs in 36 innings of work, while also recording 72 strikeouts and just 12 walks.

Also making the First Team was Hutsonville-Palestine's Jayden Woodward. Woodward posted a .485 average (17-35) with six doubles, one triple, 11 runs batted in an eight runs scored for the Tigers this season. He was also the workhorse of the pitching staff, throwing 31.2 innings. He finished the year with a 5.31 ERA, while striking out 25 batters and walking 18.

Oblong also had an Honorable Mention selection in senior Drew Reider. Reider finished the season with a .268 average (15-56), including one double, 19 runs scored and three runs batted in.

On the softball side, Oblong had five First Team selections. Camryn Travis was tabbed as a pitcher, as she posted a 16-3 record with a 1.24 ERA, while striking out 167 batters and walking 25 in 113.1 innings. She also hit .321 (17-53) for the Lady Panthers, including five doubles, one triple, one home run, 19 runs batted in and 14 runs scored.

Also on the First Team were Abbie Dart, Nyah Laino, Samantha Johnson and Summer Johnson.

Dart posted a .538 average (35-65), including seven doubles, five triples, three home runs, 32 runs batted in and 27 runs scored.

Laino finished the season with a .500 average (36-72), including 14 doubles, two home runs, one triple, 29 runs batted in and 22 runs scored.

Summer Johnson hit .455 (35-77) for the Lady Panthers this season, including 11 doubles, three triples, one home run, 32 runs scored and 23 runs batted in.

Samantha Johnson hit .324 (24-74), including six doubles, one triple, one home run, 24 runs scored and 22 runs batted in. She also pitched some, posting a 4-0 record with one save and a 2.00 ERA, while striking out 35 and walking six in 28 innings.

In addition, Oblong's Madison Allen received Second Team accolades. She hit .297 (19-64) this season with three doubles, three triples, 14 runs batted in and 10 runs scored.

Meanwhile, Hutsonville-Palestine had three Honorable Mention selections in Rylee Watson, Baylee Baker and Shaelyn Wilber.

Season stats for the Lady Tigers were not available by press time.
