Another dominant performance led Robinson High School's boys' tennis team to another lopsided victory Thursday.
The Maroons swept in singles and doubles matches, including six wins in straight sets, on their way to a 9-0 victory over visiting Fairfield.
"As a whole we played well, but not great," RHS head coach Tom Buchanan said. "We did see some improvement in our aggressiveness in doubles. We have been working at closing out points at the net and tonight we did a better job."
In singles, five of the six matches were decided in two sets, with Dillon Rariden, Kaden Buchanan, David Jenkins, Cameron Ireland and Lukas Baird all picking up straight-set victories, while Zach Clements also won in three sets.
With the match already clinched, some junior varsity players got a chance to play doubles and they delivered victories. After Rariden and Buchanan won in straight sets at No. 1, Preston Ireland and Brendan Inboden teamed up for a three-set win at No. 2 and Lucas Blunier and Josh Rosborough scored a three-set win at No. 3.
"David and Lukas did a great job taking control of their matches and dictating most of the points," RHS Buchanan said. "We won the match during the singles portion and it gave us a chance to mix things up in doubles and move some players up to varsity. They responded well. No. 2 and No. 3 doubles fought through tough matches and found a way win in tiebreakers."
