Another set of strong pitching performances led Oblong High School's baseball and softball teams to victories in non-conference play at Red Hill Tuesday (April 25).

The Panthers scored in every inning but one on their way to a 12-0 win in the baseball game, while the Lady Panthers jumped out to an early lead and cruised to a 9-2 win in the softball game.

In the baseball game, Oblong struck for four runs in the first to take control, then plated single runs in the second, third and fourth innings before tacking on two more in the sixth and another three in the seventh to turn the game into a rout.

Kacey Cheek led OHS at the plate with a home run, a double, a single, three runs scored and two runs batted in, while Conner Potts doubled twice, singled, scored three runs and drove in a run. Ryan Gill posted three singles, three runs batted in and a run scored, Dawson Maus singled twice and scored three times, Tyler Musgrave singled twice, knocked in two runs and scored a run, Hunter Goodwin and Drew Reider each added two singles and a run batted in, Nate Meese singled, drove in a run and scored a run and Tanner Otey had a base hit.

Gill picked up the win on the mound, allowing two hits, walking four and striking out 12 in five scoreless innings. Meese tossed the final two frames, giving up two hits and striking out one.

In the softball game, the Lady Panthers erupted for five runs in their first at-bat and were never seriously threatened. Red Hill plated a run in the second, but Oblong added two more in the fourth. Red Hill scored again in the sixth, only for Oblong to tack on two more in the seventh.

Abbie Dart led the offense for OHS with a home run, a single, two runs batted in and two runs scored, while Nyah Laino singled twice, knocked in three runs and scored a run. Summer Johnson doubled, singled and scored twice, Camryn Travis added two singles, a run batted in and a run scored, Harley Harrison singled, drove in a run and scored a run, Samantha Johnson singled and scored a run, Madison Allen singled twice, Hallie Allen doubled and Keeley Johnson scored a run.
