Christmas decorations in three of the county's villages have reportedly been damaged. Jeff Besing and Chad Pusey, the police chiefs of Palestine and Oblong, respectively, announced earlier this week that reports of Christmas decorations being vandalized have been reported.
These acts include wires on lights being cut, as well as extension cord wires. Pusey also confirmed that vandalism has also been reported at the Oblong Park.
Chief Besing has also identified Christmas bulbs at Leaverton Park, which have also been damaged. Both chiefs were also informed that Christmas displays in Hutsonville have been damaged.
Anyone caught committing these crimes will be tried for a misdemeanor or felony depending on the amount of damage done.
Residents who see any suspicious activity are asked to call central dispatch at 546-1515, or 911 if they can't remember the seven digit number.
"Please watch out for your community and neighbors and report any suspicious activity," Besing said.
