The Oblong Community District 4 Board of Education took care of some budget and personnel matters as the new school year gets underway around Crawford County.
The board tentatively approved a budget for the 2019-20 school year. The budget will now be available for public review at the district office until the budget hearing to be held Monday, Sept. 23, at 5:50 p.m.
In personnel matters, the board accepted the resignations of Kelly Lohman as teacher and Marsha Bliss as transportation aide.
The board also accepted the resignation of Brandi Stephenson as full time bus driver effective in September.
The board hired Connor Smothers as teacher effective in January and also hired Kaydie Grooms and Mikkel Andrews as teachers, Sarah Inboden, Tiffany Ferguson and Kelly Cheek as grade school aides, Tim Pringle and Laci Pethtel as bus drivers, Mike Billingsly as junior high baseball coach and Kaydie Grooms as high school girls basketball coach.
The board also approved Lyndsey Cooper as volunteer assistant junior high softball coach.
In other business, the board approved the substitute teacher, aide, custodian and bus driver lists and the amended school calendar for the 2019-20 school year.
Also, the board approved the 2019-20 Oblong CUSD 4 Teacher Evaluation Plan and certified teacher bob description and the administrative compensation report.
A request from the FFA to attend the Farm Progress Show on Aug. 28 in Decatur was also approved
The next regular school board meeting will be Monday, Sept. 23, at 6 p.m. in the Oblong Elementary School Oblong Room.
There will be a budget hearing prior to the board meeting at 5:50 p.m.
