Oblong Unit 4 school board OKs budget, makes personnel moves
The Oblong Unit 4 school board took care of administrative issues Monday night and continues to work toward the coming school year.

Prior to Monday night's regular board meeting a budget hearing was held to adopt the amended budget for 2018-2019 school year.

Superintendent Jeff Patchett recognized the individuals from the United Way Day of Caring who did some work at our schools. Patchett also presented a plaque to Mike Higgins, a former board member, recognizing his years of service to the Board of Education.

The board authorized the superintendent to bid milk, bread and fuel, and approved the transfer of working cash interest to the education fund.

Timothy Potts was appointed as Treasurer and approved the purchase of a Treasurer's Bond. Potts was also approved as Bookkeeper/Payroll/Board Secretary effective July 1, and authorized agent for IMRF for Unit 4.

The board approved the Board of Education committee meetings dates and times for the 2019-2020 school year, and approved Catastrophic Student Accident Insurance.

The board approved the Substitute Teacher's and Student Handbooks, and a contract with Bushue Human Resources.

A Dual-Credit Agreement and Memorandum of Understanding with Illinois Eastern Community College District was also approved.

In personnel related matters the resignations of Ian Laughlin as high school teacher and head high school baseball coach; Pam Winters as grade school media aide; Carolyn Snider as bus driver and Tim Potts as junior high baseball coach were all accepted.

The board hired Mike Billingsly as P.E. teacher; Chad Pusey as OPH head football coach; Jessica Rich as OPH cheer coach; Leslie Lewis as junior high cheer coach;

Alicia Haberlin and Lyndsey Littlehohn as grade school yearbook co-sponsors; and Pam Johnson as bus driver.

The board approved Ryan Kidwell as volunteer high school golf coach.

The board authorized the superintendent to post anticipated vacancies for the 2019-2020 school year, and approved Non-Certified and Administrative salary compensations for the 2019-2020 school year.
