Oblong has four incumbents on school ballot

Four incumbents are on the ballot for the Oblong Unit 4 school board election.



Rod Sparks

Sparks, 5156 E. 1050th Ave., has served on the Unit 4 board since 2007. He was vice-president of the board for two years and has been the president of the board for the last eight years.

He and his wife, Suzy, have one child, Baylee.

Sparks is a member of Oblong Chamber of Commerce. He has served as vice-president of the Oblong Academic Foundation before being elected to the Unit 4 board and has been a member of the Oak Glen Golf Course Board of Directors and the Jasper Engines and Transmissions Exchange Advisory Committee.



Kyle Bailey

Bailey, 1860 E. 650th Ave, was elected to the Unit 4 board in 2007. Bailey and his wife, Tawnya - a math teacher at Oblong High School - have three children, Jared and Joshua.

Bailey has served three terms on the Unit 4 board. He attends the Oblong Evangelical United Methodist Church and is the P.A. announcer of OHS Panther football.

Bailey, who is the chairman of the OblongUnit 4 Finance Committee, says school funding is a top concern facing the district.



Lisa Pinkston

Pinkston, 10622 N. 450th St., has served on the Unit 4 board for thirteen years. She is the current chairman of the Building Committee.

Pinkston and her husband, Charley, have two children, Kelsey and Kailyn, and one granddaughter, Charly.

She has served as the treasurer of the Oblong Chamber of Commerce, and also as president of the Illini Prairie Quilt Guild and as a Sunday School teacher at Oblong First Christian Church.

She is the owner of the Village Stitchery and a member of the Illinois Oilfield Museum.



Brady Lewis

Lewis, 8971 N. 400th St, is an Oblong High School graduate and has served two terms on the Unit 4 Board of Education and a graduate of the University of Illinois.

He and his wife Leslie have a son, Max, and a daughter, Maddie.

Lewis has been employed at the Marathon Refinery since 2001.

Unfortunately, there are quite a few errors with the information that you printed / posted for me.
While I do have three children, it's interesting that you only chose to name two of them. My daughter, Jenna, didn't get included in the article.
I have not attended the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Oblong for over three years now I have been pastor of the Zion UMC east of Hardinville since 2016, and in July 2018 also began pastoring at Grace UMC south of Palestine.
I am still doing P.A. announcing at football games at Oblong High School, but it is now for the OPH football co-op, which started in 2018.

I realize that often there isn't much change from election to election regarding personal information, but if you're going to try to re-use prior information, at a minimum the information should be verified to still be correct.
