Drugs, alcohol and a gun landed two Robinson residents behind bars following an early morning traffic stop on Sunday.
According to the Robinson Police Department report, Cody L. Melega, 32, Robinson, was seen recklessly driving a motorcycle on Cross when he was pulled over near Miami. During the stop Melega and his passenger Jackie J. Fox, 40, Robinson, were found with open alcohol, pills, cannabis and drug paraphernalia. A search of the intoxicated Melega's motorcycle also resulted in a loaded handgun being found in the vehicle's saddlebag. Melega, a felon, was not allowed to have a gun in his possession.
He and Fox were arrested without incident and he was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, armed violence, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon and two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Melega was also issued citations for improper lane usage, illegal transportation of alcohol and unlawful possession of less than 10 grams of cannabis. Fox was arrested on a charge of armed violence, unlawful use of weapon and two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance. She was also cited for illegal transportation of alcohol and unlawful possession of less than 10 grams of cannabis.
Both were taken in custody about 1:33 a.m. and brought to the Crawford County Jail, where they are awaiting bond to be set by a judge.
