United Way welcomes new campaign director
United Way of Crawford County says goodbye to a valued member and hello to a new campaign director.

United Way of Crawford County Executive Director Mark Hill announced in the quarterly news letter that UWCC has a new campaign chair, Mitzi Martin. She is a former member of the Hershey team and is now helping with the CMH board.

"Mitzi is a former member of out board and we welcome her energy and enthusiasm to this year's campaign," said Hill. "At the same time, we are saying goodbye to Kevin Bogard of Marathon who has served our board for over five years. His direction and leadership not only for United Way but throughout the region will be greatly missed. We wish Kevin the best in his promotion and move to Texas."

UWCC helped bring a nationally known speaker to our junior and senior high students recently on the subject of bullying and we are helping Crawford LIFE with their efforts to promote and grow the Mental Health system in Crawford and surrounding areas. Nationally known Teen homicide expert Phil Chalmers spoke to all junior and senior high students at the invitation of Palestine Police Chief Jeff Besing. Speaker's fees paid for by United Way.

United Way supported and participated in the first annual Mental Health Awareness Day at Robinson High School on Sunday.

The Lawrence Crawford Agency for Exceptional Citizens will hold its annual banquet Nov. 2.

Consumers and staff from LCAEC enjoyed a bowling day recently at Vincennes University. Thanks to United Way in supporting this outing.

UWCC continues to partner with Boy Scouts of America Lincoln Trail Council. Girls are now being welcomed into scouting in Crawford County.

Single-gender dens by grade level and single-gender troops for Scouts BSA will start in February.

BSA are also moving to a new regional arrangement through St. Louis.
