Work is underway this summer behind Nuttall Middle School to build two regulation size soccer fields.
The project is being funded through efforts by the Robinson Soccer Club, a not for profit, organization dedicated to providing the opportunity for local youth to participate in competitive soccer.
The Robinson Soccer Club currently has teams made up of Crawford County area youth ranging in ages from 8 to 18.
The club received permission from the Robinson Community Unit 2 School District to level out and reseed the field behind Nuttall Middle School allowing it to accommodate two high school regulation size soccer fields. This project will provide the club, along with other area sports activities with safe, high-quality, and conveniently located sports fields to practice and compete on. The Robinson Soccer Club has raised the funds and organized for the completion of the project.
The Robinson School District will maintain ownership and control of the property continuing to have school activities and allowing other sports activities such as local Junior Football Leagues to use the fields.
The club is continuing to fundraise to help with the purchase of additional field equipment as well as helping offset participation cost. They will be having a car wash and cookout on Saturday, June 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Robinson Sears Hometown Store. Donations can be sent to PO Box 30, Robinson, IL 62454.
