Crawford Memorial Hospital has a new chief executive officer.
Doug Florkowski was named the new CEO. He will take over from Cindy Bradley July 17. Bradley has served as interim CEO since the retirement of Don Annis in January.
"Doug is such a natural fit for this position," CMH Board Chairman Von Meeks said.
"He is deeply committed to keeping quality care close to home and has first-hand knowledge of the healthcare landscape in this part of the state," Meeks added. "We are excited to welcome him to the CMH family."
"I've had the opportunity to collaborate with CMH's board of trustees and medical staff more than once during the past several years," Florkowski said.
"Their compassion and commitment to excellence in patient care is outstanding," he said. "I look forward to exploring new opportunities and finding new ways to make the community healthier."
Florkowski, CEO of Lawrence County Memorial Hospital for 11 years, announced recently he would be stepping down from his position there effective July 14. Both the Lawrence and Crawford County hospitals are managed by Quorum Health Resources. A search for his replacement at LCMH is underway.
Florkowski has more than 18 years of healthcare experience with 12 of those years in an executive leadership role. He has spent most of his career in rural healthcare environments, focusing the last 14 years on hospital operations.
During his time in Lawrence County, he oversaw development and construction of a new medical clinic, surgical expansion and recruited several providers to the hospital's medical staff.
Florkowski earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from State University of New York at Fredonia.
He has been a supporter of community programs and is a the president of the Lawrence County Rotary Club. He also served on the Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network board of directors, the Lawrence County Industrial Development Council and the Lawrence County Workforce Development Board.
Florkowski also is a bow hunter and fisherman and loves spending time with his family.
