County run up to Easter continues this weekend
Palestine hosting a pair of fundraisers this weekend
Although not exactly Easter-related, Palestine will be the site of two events this weekend.

The Palestine Booster Club will host an alumni basketball game fundraiser at 6:30 p.m. Friday. Former and present basketball players, cheerleaders and band members may participate by contacting Tara Vennard at 586-2800 or They can also sign up at Peg N' Reds.

The Palestine Involvement Group will sponsor the annual Pioneer Dodge Ball Tournament at 1 p.m. Sunday in the Palestine High School gymnasium. Admission is $3 and concessions will be available.

Crawford County's Easter activities continue this week.

Highland Church of Christ will be playing host to neighborhood Easter Egg Hunts for preschool through fifth grade Saturday.

The hunts will be in various areas of town beginning at 10:30 a.m. and participants should look for signs pointing the way to the hunt nearest them.

The hunts will be followed by a free lunch for families. There will be food stands set up at both Washington Park and Robinson City Park. Food will be available from 11 a.m. to noon.

The meal will be followed by a free movie and popcorn shown in the HCC auditorium on the big screens at 1 p.m. The movie will be "The Rise of the Guardians," rated PG.

There will be two drawings for prizes after the movie. The child needs to be present to win. Everyone in the area may attend the event.

Hutsonville Community Club will sponsor the annual Easter Egg Hunt at Hutsonville Park at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 23. There will be eggs, candy and prizes. Children ages two to 10 years may participate.

The Oblong Community Service Club will sponsor an egg hunt at Oblong Park at 1 p.m. Sunday. In case of rain, the event will be rescheduled to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 30.

"The Price of Love," an Easter Gospel portrayal, will be presented at the Robinson Free Methodist Church at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Admission is free, however seating is limited. For more information call the church office at 544-7531.

Highland Avenue Baptist Church will present a Living Last Supper musical drama at 6 p.m. Saturday and 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

Robinson First Christian Church will have a Palm Sunday Worship service at 9 a.m. Sunday.

Outer West Market Church of Christ, Palestine, will be the site of a community soup supper from 5 to 6 p.m. Sunday evening. The supper is sponsored by area churches. The drama "The Borrowed Tomb" will follow at 6:30 p.m. Everyone may attend. There is no charge for the soup supper or the drama.

Grace United Methodist Church will have an Easter Egg Hunt at 3 p.m. Sunday. There also will be games and cupcakes. Everyone may attend.

The Easter cantata "It Is Finished" will be performed at 7 p.m. Sunday at Flat Rock United Methodist Church. Olive Branch Baptist Church, Annapolis, also will perform it during a Good Friday service at 7 p.m. March 29.

The Robinson Easter Egg Hunt at Washington Park will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30. It is for anyone ages toddler to 10 years old, or who is a fifth-grader. More than 2,000 eggs will be hidden throughout the park. Several different age groups will be offered with many prizes to be given away including scooters, tricycles and bicycles.

The city will provide free hotdogs and drinks beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the shelter in Washington Park. The Easter bunny will be in attendance.

An Easter egg hunt is 2 p.m. Saturday, March 30, at New Hope Baptist Church. Donations of individually wrapped candy are needed.

Palestine Maundy Thursday service is 7 p.m. March 28 at Pleasant View Church.

Robinson First Christian Church's Maundy Thursday service is 7 p.m. March 28. with a Good Friday service following at 7 p.m. March 29. Easter services are 7:30 a.m. and 9 a.m. March 31 with a buffet breakfast after the 7:30 a.m. service.

Zion United Methodist Church will host Maundy Thursday services at 7 p.m. March 28, while a Good Friday Tenebrae service will be 7 p.m. March 29 at Oak Ridge UMC. Easter sunrise service will be 6 a.m. March 31 at Pearl Chapel UMC, while Oak Ridge will host the Easter morning service at 9 a.m.

Grand Prairie Christian Church will have Maundy Thursday services at 7 p.m. March 28 and Easter sunrise services at 6 a.m. March 31. Breakfast will be served.

Palestine community Good Friday service is 7 p.m. March 29 at Palestine First United Methodist Church. A free will offering will be taken to benefit the Brock family.

Otterbein United Methodist Church's Good Friday Service is 7 p.m. March 29.

West Union Nazarene Church will have Good Friday services at 7 p.m. March 29.

The New Hope C.P. Church of rural Yale will have a Good Friday Youth Service from 6:30-9:30 p.m. March 29. The evening will be geared towards young adults but all may attend. Pizza and fellowship will follow.

Palestine community Easter sunrise service is 7 a.m. March 31 at the First Christian Church. A light breakfast will be served after.

Highland Church of Christ, Robinson, will have three identical services on Easter Sunday morning at 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m. There will be Kid's Church during all three services as well as nursery through preschool care and classes. There will be no Bible classes for adult or youth on Easter. All evening groups for children, youth and adults are cancelled for that day.

West Union First Baptist Church Easter breakfast is at 7 a.m. March 31. Sunrise service is at 8 a.m. and Sunday school is at 8:30 a.m. Morning worship is at 9:30.

Mound Community Church will have sunrise services at 7:30 a.m. Easter Day. Breakfast will be at 8 a.m. Resurrection services will be at 9 a.m. and an Easter egg hunt will follow. There will be no Sunday school.
