In addition to welcoming a new chief, the Robinson Fire Department has also promoted a captain and hired a firefighter.

Ted Atteberry, 56, was officially named chief in June.

Atteberry has served the Robinson Fire Department for 23 years, and had been acting chief following the retirement of long-time Chief Darrell Akers. Atteberry and his wife, Susan, have three grown children.

Robinson Firefighter Travis Miller, 33, was promoted to the rank of captain. Miller has been employed as a full-time firefighter for 10 years. He is also an EMT and serves on the Crawford County Rescue Squad and dive team.

Miller and his wife, Joy, have two children, Addy and Logan.

Tate Myers, 27, is the newest full-time firefighter to join the department. Myers has served as a volunteer in Robinson and in the Mattoon area. He is a 2003 graduate of Robinson High School and lives in Robinson with his wife, Carissa, and two children, Jacob, 2, and Makenzie, 5.

Myers was hired in July.
