Extension names new local 4-H coordinator
A Robinson High School graduate and former Annapois 4-Her is the new county 4-H program coordinator.

University of Illinois Extension in Crawford County has recently hired Samantha Crane Gaither to lead the local 4-H effort.

Gaither will have primary responsibility for coordinating the local 4-H program, including working with the Junior Leader program, recruiting and training new volunteers, working with 4-H clubs, and coordinating county-wide 4-H events.

Gaither is very familiar with the Crawford County 4-H program. She was an 11-year member of the Annapolis Pathfinders 4-H Club and involved in showing both general and livestock projects. Gaither also served as a summer intern for the Crawford County Extension office.

She is a graduate of Robinson High School and Southern Illinois University, with a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture ststems. Gaither started her position in early September and has already been busy working with a variety of 4-H events and activities including the new 4-H shooting sports program.

The Illinois 4-H program offers youth the opportunity to feel a sense of belonging, develop independence, practice generosity and experience mastery.

Any young person or adult volunteer interested in learning more about the 4-H program can contact Gaither for more information. She may be reached by contacting the University of Illinois Extension Office in the Commercium Building on South Cross Street, by calling 546-1549, or emailing sgaither@illinois.edu.
