It's easy to not get in trouble with the police

This morning while having coffee I was looking through the online news and saw another incident of a police officer shooting someone.  As I read the article I was thinking of the recent high profile shootings that have led to so many protests and riots.

In this country everybody has rights to an opinion. Linda Shidler's opinion (Nov. 17 Letters to the Editor) seems to favor whoever she considers to "have more information and experience." Who is she to decide for others who qualifies? Is her opinion better than others?

I read the Robinson Daily News daily. I enjoy the sections regarding what is happening in the small town I call home once again. I read with interest what the schools are doing, what LTC has going on and even the police report for the week. Then I get to the "letter to the editor section."

Kudos to the Robinson Daily News for their tribute to the veterans insert, It shocked and humbled my father and I to see how many veterans were included. For a small town paper to do such a kind thing was heartwarming.

Auxiliary police officer helps mom at parade

At the Oblong parade last Saturday night, I had to pick up my daughter from one of the bands because she needed to run to the emergency room.  The auxiliary police officer who helped me was wonderful! He got me back to the band and helped us get out and going.

I was lucky enough to be selected to go on the Honor Flight from Springfield. On Sept. 15, I went to Springfield with my wife, Carolyn, and her daughter, Debbie, for a meal at the VFW to welcome the veterans.
