Liquor-license approvals troubling

As a long-time minister here in the Crawford/Lawrence County area I must write to report how troubling it is to many of us that more and more licenses and permits for beer and liquor are being granted so freely over our objections.

Column an 'insult' to majority of Muslims

I was dismayed at Adrienne Greene's column about Islam on April 6 (church page). Contrary to what she states, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam all worship the "God of Abraham and Isaac." While the faiths have differing understandings of God, it is simply a mistake to say that Muslims worship a different God than Jews and Christians.

April 15-21 is National Volunteer Week, and University of Illinois Extension 4-H Youth Development program wants to recognize more then 12,000 4-H adult and youth volunteers who guide and support nearly 200,000 4-H participants in Illinois.

'Too much uncertainty' on consolidation
Editor:

When school was not in session due to the snowy, cold weather, going into town seemed too quiet. Without the schools, Palestine is not the same. If there is consolidation, the likelihood of having no attendance center increases greatly. If or when that happens, Palestine will be too quiet and there will be a loss of business, with some concerns likely going out of business.
