2/20/2006 2:55:00 PM Wall-Mart should pay us to "super-size"
It look as if our past city officials did what our forefathers did two and a half century ago. They goofed, just that plain, goofed. Several years ago Nikita Khruschchev made the statement, "Your constitution will sink you." Foreign countries are using our constitution against us. They have found ways in it to "sink us," and you might say our senators and congressmen and women are "nice enough" to let them do it.
Getting back home to our own plight, why do we here in this small community have to give the richest corporation in the world $500,000 to enlarge their business? I realize we have an enterprise zone here, but wouldn't that be like a very poor person giving a very rich man money for a dinner? I am sure there is a way around that wall. (No pun intended.) Wal-Mart has already put out or hurt every home-owned business in this city and the others around here. I know there are people here that want a super store here. Personally I don't think we need it at that price. They should pay us the half million for the privilege of moving in.
Yes, Mr. Gubelman, I read your letter. It was quite educational.
