Thelma M. Lowe

Thelma M. Lowe, 94, of Robinson, IL, died Friday, March 20, 2020, at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson, IL. She was born on April 15, 1925, in Oblong, IL, the daughter of John Elkins and Mary (Moomau) Elkins, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Robert Lowe on November 6, 1943, and he preceded her in death on October 30, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Margaret Pleasant, Irene Ryerson, Beatrice Goodwin, and Maxine Harrison and by her brother, John Elkins.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Richard "Rick" and Norma Lowe (Robinson, IL) and Stephen and Vicky Lowe (Evansville, IN); by six grandchildren ;by her step-grandchildren, by nine great-grandchildren, by her two great-great-grandchildren as well as several other nieces and nephews.

She grew up in the Hardinville area and attended school in a one-room schoolhouse. She found work for a number of local businesses, including Crawford Electronics and L.S. Heath and Sons before becoming a hairdresser, eventually opening up her own salon, Bobette's Beauty Shop.

She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church.

In light of the State of Illinois' "Shelter in Place" order, public services will be postponed and held at a later date. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements.
