One person was injured in a three-vehicle accident on Illinois Route 1A near Robinwood Drive Tuesday afternoon. According to Robinson Police, about 2:25 p.m. Jeremiah D. Caballero, 41, Robinson, was stopped northbound on 1A trying to turn left onto Robinwood when a southbound vehicle driven by Walter D. Connor, 85, Robinson, struck the front of Caballero's vehicle. Caballero, whose vehicle was knocked into the southbound lane, was then struck head-on by a second vehicle driven by Brittanie Ann Kirchoff, 22, Hutsonville. Caballero was taken to Crawford Memorial Hospital by United Life Care Ambulance, and the other drivers and passengers were examined for injuries. Robinson Fire Department was called to the scene, and RPD was assisted by the Crawford County Sheriff's Department. Caballero was issued a citation for failure to yield. (Tom Compton photo)
Three hundred years of living memory was shared during a cracker barrel discussion at the Fife Opera House Sunday. Palestine Preservation Projects Society presented "Century of Memories," in which three local centenarians discussed their memories from 100 years of life.
The search for a suspect who fled from a traffic stop resulted in an arrest at a Palestine residence on Friday. According to Palestine Police Chief Jeff Besing, about 9:45 a.m. he pulled over a 1997 White Dodge truck near Palestine High School at Main and Franklin Street. Bruce Rauner complimented Marathon refinery employees for working hard, supporting education and giving back to the community - values he says he has also tried to exemplify. Rauner made a brief stop in Robinson Wednesday morning to show his support of Marathon's work and growth.
