Horticulturists explain mistletoe history, mystique
Decorating with mistletoe has been a holiday tradition for many centuries in North America and Europe. But why do we have this strange tradition that prompts friends, family, and even enemies to kiss when they meet underneath mistletoe?

A piece of Crawford County history is gone following the demolition of the former Hardinville School. The school, which once housed students in kindergarten through eighth grade, was torn down late last month. Owner Gareld Bilyew said the structure was "in very poor condition."

Statesmen pull away from Ivy Tech, 93-81
They don't all have to be pretty to land in the win column and Wednesday (Dec. 6)'s game certainly wasn't a work of art, but it was good enough for Lincoln Trail College's men's basketball team back in the win column.

A short-handed Statesmen squad was missing several regular rotation players, but managed to put together a big second half to pull away from Ivy Tech Community College for a 93-81 victory.

"This was the right game at the right time," LTC head coach Luke Stuckey said. "With our injury situation, we had some guys playing positions they hadn't played before, but we got some guys some confidence and found a way to win. It was a good win for us."

'Swamp' draining itself
Editor:

Donald Trump said he was going to drain the swamp in Washington if elected. I don't know if he's the one draining the swamp of if the "swamp monsters" are doing themselves in. I've always been a strong advocate of term limits, but it appears right now that what is limiting many of these folks careers is their own bad behavior. (Insert big smile here.)
