Residents question use of tax money in Unit 2 facility
Robinson Unit 2 school board Monday answered questions from local residents concerned about the use of their tax dollars, especially in regard to plans for a new transportation facility.

Several taxpayers were present for Monday's board meeting with questions on topics ranging from whether the current South Jackson Street facility couldn't be fixed up to whether that many students actually still ride buses.

Three hundred years of living memory was shared during a cracker barrel discussion at the Fife Opera House Sunday. Palestine Preservation Projects Society presented "Century of Memories," in which three local centenarians discussed their memories from 100 years of life.

Competition for teachers gets Unit 3 attention
The competition for substitute teachers had the Palestine Unit 3 School Board's attention during their meeting on Monday.

With all the local school districts in competition for substitutes, the board decided that an increase in daily pay would help them be able to attract more.

RHS has nine make All-Little Illini teams
Nearly two handfuls of Robinson High School athletes were recognized for their exploits on the diamond this spring by being named to one of the All-Little Illini Conference teams announced recently.

Robinson had six baseball players named, along with three softball players, with six of those being First Team selections.

The selections were based on the players' statistics and performances in conference games only.

Responsibility has a part in immigration debate

I thought I'd share some thoughts on the current immigration arguments.

Firstly the idea of keeping families together and not separating them when they "illegally" enter the country is admirable. Admirable but questionable.

• Baseball a journey of 'personal worth'
• Male bias is historical, pervasive
