Area 12-year-old faces felony charge following threats
Local law enforcement is taking all threats seriously after the shooting that killed 17 in Florida.

"Threats of school shootings are very serious matters that the State's Attorney's Office and all members of law enforcement in Crawford County take very seriously," Crawford County State's Attorney Matthew Hartrich told the Daily News.

Big things are happening at Lincoln Trail College. Two weeks ago, the Lincoln Trail College Foundation appropriated $165,000 for college projects that will be completed over the next six months. Foundation Executive Director Rod Harmon is excited about the trajectory he sees the College taking.

A strong first half was more than enough for Hutsonville-Palestine's boys' basketball team to pick up a win Thursday night (Feb. 15).

The Tigers built a 21-point lead by halftime and cruised to a 64-41 victory over Union-Dugger, Ind., in a non-conference contest.

Gun-crime solutions worth considering

I sent a letter to the editor a few days ago expressing an opinion on the Florida shooting and have had some ask me what I would do to help fix some of the problems leading to this and other horrible crimes. Accordingly I thought I'd just lay my opinions out there. I know there are people on both sides of this issue who won't like something in what I believe, but here goes.
