Oatmeal raisin, peanut butter blossoms, chocolate chip, Christmas theme sugar cookies with icing and sprinkles, fudge and cheery cheese cake tarts were just some of the homemade goodies for sale at annual Cookie Walk in Palestine Saturday. Members of the Palestine Projects Preservation Society boxed up baked delights which were then sold by the pound. Tours of the Fife museum were also being given. A Robinson man injured in a single-vehicle accident at Palestine early today is facing charges.

Recent rainfall causing 'abnormally dry' areas to shrink here
A small corner of the northeast part of Crawford County is still abnormally dry despite recent rains.

However, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor, the dry part of the county continues to shrink thanks to rainfall during the past two weeks.

'Clarity' is what's needed to fix state

I am writing to address our legislators' role in the recent financial crisis facing the State of Illinois. As a political science graduate student at Eastern Illinois University and a constituent from Robinson, I believe their representation of our district's interests has been lacking.

Statesmen beat Southeastern Illinois, 88-80
Another high-scoring game at home, another big win for Lincoln Trail College's men's basketball team.

The Statesmen picked up their fourth straight win at home Saturday, pulling away late for an 88-80 win over Southeastern Illinois College in Great Rivers Athletic Conference play.
