Four killed in area crashes
Charges may follow two-vehicle U.S. 50 accident Saturday.

A Lawrence County man was among two people killed in a two-vehicle accident on U.S. Route 50 near Lawrenceville Saturday evening, according to the Illinois State Police Department.
Deceased is Roger W, Hughes, 74, Bridgeport, who was a passenger in a black 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe being driven by his son, Derek Hughes, 38, Lawrenceville. Also killed was Jessica N. White, 37, Linton, Ind., who was a passenger in a 1997 Jeep Cherokee being driven by Shonda French, 43, also of Linton.
According to an state police report, the accident occurred at 6:56 p.m. Saturday on U.S. Route 50, about a mile west of Lawrenceville.
According to the report, French was traveling west, while Derek Hughes was traveling east at the same location. Police say the French vehicle crossed the center line and struck the Hughes vehicle head-on in the eastbound lane. Both vehicles came to rest in the south ditch along the highway.
White was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the accident report, while Roger Hughes was later pronounced dead at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital.
French was transported to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana, with unknown injuries.
Three other passengers in the Hughes vehicle, 34-year-old Laura L. Hughes, a 12-year-old female and a nine-year-old female, were taken to Lawrence County Memorial Hospital.
The accident is still under investigation, according to the accident report, and charges may be pending.
A fatal accident occurred at around 6:19 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10 at the intersection of Clarksville Road and Cleone Road in Clark County.
Wade C. Shaefer, 32, Charleston, was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the initial report Schaefer was eastbound on Clarksville Road, just east of Cleone Road, in a silver, 2005, Toyota Avalon, when he crossed over into the westbound lane and struck a blue, 1994, Kenworth truck tractor, driven by Matthew Wayne Locker, 37, Knightstown, Ind., head on.
A single vehicle accident in Fayette County left one dead and two injured.
Around 5:43 p.m. Craig Frailey, 28, Ramsey, was driving a 2005 silver Ford truck on Rt 40 eastbound near Fayette CR 1050 E. He began to leave the roadway right, into the grassy ditch, continued off the roadway down an embankment sliding sideways, followed by rolling over several times.
Frailey along with passengers Brittany Hall, 23, Ramesy, and Ryan Ward, 32, Brownstown, were all transported to Fayette County Hospital for treatment. Frailey was pronounced dead at the hospital.
