Hutsonville, Oblong, LTC events highlight weekend
Santa Train's Sunday arrival will add to county's holiday festivities.
Holiday-related activities continue around the county this weekend.

Lincoln Trail College's annual Santa Day is 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday. The annual event features free seasonal games, activities and craft projects. Santa will meet with children in the LTC library. Those attending should take a camera for photos with Santa.

LTC's Merry Tuba Christmas, a free performance by area low brass musicians, will be presented in the Zwermann Arts Center Theater at 3 p.m.

Merry Tuba Christmas concerts will be presented in more than 250 cities throughout the United States and abroad to honor the late tubist/educator William Bell.

Also Saturday, the LTC concert and jazz bands and the Statesmen Singers will perform their annual fall concert at 6 p.m.

Hutsonville's "Christmas Along the Wabash" celebration is 4 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

The event begins with the lighting of a bonfire at 4 p.m. A free-will donation soup supper and a cookie walk are 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Hutsonville Community Center. An alpaca cashmere show is 4 to 8 p.m. in Big River Antiques and Country Store and Heartland Baptist Church members will sing carols on Main Street from 5 to 6 p.m.

Children can make crafts at the Hutsonville American Legion from 5 to 7 p.m. and Roger Dee will play music by the bonfire from 6 to 8 p.m.

The community Christmas tree will be lit at 7 p.m. and Santa will arrive at 7:15 p.m. He will meet with children and pass out treat bags at the Hutsonville Library beginning at 7:20 p.m.

The Indiana Rail Road Santa Train will roll through Crawford County Sunday. The train will stop on South Range in Oblong from 1:45 to 2:45 p.m. and on Lincoln in Palestine from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Admission is free.

Also Sunday, the Oblong High School band and chorus will perform their annual Christmas concert at 2 p.m. at Oblong Elementary School.

Oblong will celebrate a hometown Christmas "Evening in the Park" from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Oblong Park. Horse-drawn carriages will carry visitors around the decorated lake. Santa will be on hand and the EUM Church will put on a live Nativity scene.

Oblong Boy Scout Troop 219 will be serving refreshments beginning at 3 p.m. Items to be served include hot chocolate, coffee, insideout S'mores, hot dogs and chili soup.

Robinson Elks Lodge 1188 will conduct its 102nd annual memorial service at 3 p.m. in the Elk's Lodge Room.
